    Question for Unix bods

Morning all. I'm looking for a command that will convert a space-delimeted log file into a tab-delimeted file. TIA

I think 'awk' is the command you want, something like

    awk -F" " '{OFS="\t"}{print $1,$2,$3,$4,$5}' sumfile

Do a 'man awk' and have a bugger about

        Or, use vi.

        vi fileName
Position cursor to start of the file.
        Then...
        Semicolon percent-symbol lowercase-s forward-slash spacebar forward-slash hit-Tab-key forward-slash lowercase-g
Will look something like this in vi
        :%s/ /^I/g

yes, the pattern is that they both contain 4 letters, I'd try the MENSA test if I were you.

Chelsea @ home, who'd have thought it eh?

Why, would Mensa know the difference between the terms 'General' and 'Technical'?

You sound like someone who gets frustrated at the fact you never know the answers to technical questions. IT is your gremlin

Or me. I'm not sure who that was aimed at.

Probably both of us. That's a tenner we owe him then.
