    Zimbabwe

Wouldn't we be better placed to liberate Zimbabwe from the likes of the a mini-Hitler than running around getting blown up in Iraq.

Obviously no oil or glory, just good old British resolve. I'd rather we gave Mugabe a spanking than anyone else.
What happens in General, stays in General.
You know what they say about assumptions!

Those naughty Rhodesians voted for what they've got... either they bring back Smith or they live with the consequenses of their actions
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

No - it wouldn't work. Western liberal interventionism is a busted flush. This is one for the people of Zimbabwe or the government of South Africa to sort out (assuming the latter ever decides to get off its @rse and do something).

Neighbouring regional power, and much more acceptable in African eyes for an African power to intervene than the old colonial power. Historic political links between Mugabe and ANC. South Africa facing mass influx of refugees from Zimbabwe.

They're in the best position to do something but lack the will.

Isnt this one of the reasons why mugatu is still in power? His afro brothers wont do anything about him because they view him as being one of them.

Sorta like the ICC in how they are racially biased in favour of the brown countries and refuse to do anything about cheats like Chukkalitheran cause he is one of them!

I agree - it's up to South Africa to sort it out. UK should leave well alone.

SA could destabilise Mugabe within a few weeks on any number of pretexts but refuse to do it.
