    Rugby Dilemma

Semi on Saturday 8pm - obviously.
    Daughters 1st B'day is Sat.
Little one goes to sleep at 7pm.
I want to go out to watch the rugby.
Wife wants a romantic night in to celebrate.
How can I shout at the TV while little one is sleeping upstairs?
Just e-mailed my mates seeing if they fancy going out. Told them to make sure if her indoors asks it was their idea and not mine.
Going to take the hit for a few days. She'll be alright by Sunday - family lunch.
    have I done wrong?

      Bad, very bad.
The result of the rugby will not change whether you watch it or not.
Your status at home will change if you upset either of these significant others.

Compromise. Treat the wife to a very romantic dinner after the rugby.
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

Dont compromise.. tell her your watching the rugby and she can piss off if she doesnt like it.

I would have said that to my wife except

        a) My team are flying home.
        b) She loves rugby.

I know the result won't change - England are going to win.
but the atmosphere will be different.
Upset either? my daughters 1 and asleep. How can she get upset?

Tell her the truth, if you have a romantic evening your mind will be on a bunch of men playing with balls, better to have just one of you thinking of that!

            Move evening to Sunday

Tell her as a special treat, once the little one is in bed, you've made sure that you'll be out of the kitchen for a few hours while she prepares the dinner. That way, you're helping her by staying out of her way.

Ah. Another poor sop in need of my expert advice on relationships. Tell her you love her, and that you've asked your best friend to take your place for the evening. Then find someone in the pub who doesn't like rugby, and send him round to do the Missus. That way everyone wins.

                  I thank you.

Did you marriage vows include a substitution clause?

If so, I'd suggest that this could be the way into (b), Moose.
