Retired Lt Gen Ricardo Sanchez is not "the Pentagon", and he doesn't mention British political leaders.

You are Alistair Campbell and I collect my £5.

He seems to have full credibility, though

He retired last year in the aftermath of the scandal over detainee abuse at Abu Ghraib prison in Baghdad. He was cleared of any wrongdoing.
(Bollox - just missed the goal typing that!)

There is a convention that no serving officer can make such comments - yes he is retired, but he speaks his mind on behalf of those who still serve, you can bet Pentagon is acutely aware that while Bush and his buddies will go away into nice retirement the failure in Iraq will be associated with the US military for a long time and hamper their future objectives big time.

That is an astonoshing report from the BBC...even more so when you realise that the first half Sanchez's report was aimed squarely at the media and their bias.

This article only reinforces his views!

Some of you may want to actually read his full report before you decide he is actually supporting your "anti-anything to do with america" views.
