EU needs 20 million immigrants from outside

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7057575.stm

The European Commission is set to unveil a Blue Card for skilled immigrants, based on the US Green Card.
The card would allow suitably qualified people and their families to live and work within the EU.

The EU says it needs 20 million skilled immigrants over the next 20 years, and is very short of expertise in engineering and computer technology.

Got to be worth an Oh Dear?

20 million over 20 years. Hardly think that 1 million a year is going to change the demographic of the current 459 million inhabitants.

Besides, where are quality engineers who have actually studied their subject for more than 8 hours per week gonna come from. Here?

even India is complaining of a "severe shortage" of skilled IT workers at the moment so I wouldn't worry too much.

If the skills are so scarce why are the rates currently so low and how come a train driver can earn more than a softie?
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

Or a non-Polish speaking plumber (just for sheer novelty value, TBH).
Have patience. In time, even grass becomes milk.

"In Italy, no one grows up wanting to be a train driver."
