So what is it about poofball?

    So whats the story here?

Went to the American Poofball game yesterday*. Nighty odd thousand fans there, feck all police presence and no crowd segregation...what is it about soccer that means fans have to try and rip each others nuts off?

And its not like its an English cultural thing...where ever poofball is played fan violence is always present.

So...what is it about soccer that generates so much agro?

    Mailman

*probably be the last game of american poofball I ever go to. Only saving grace was the cheerleaders!

Presumably, being a kiwi from the 8th best rugby country in the world, you now need to find another sport to follow

Why do you care. Kiwis can't play football anyway. Or rugby:

          Cricket? Nope.
Perhaps there should be a sheep-shearing World Cup. You might win that, but Wales would probably beat you in the quarters.
          Hard Brexit now!

It's a fair enough question - personally I believe that most games (Not all, old firm for example) could be played in front of a mixed crowd these days and there wouldn't be too much extra bother - undoubtedly there would be a minority but that always exists.

Saying that I like the atmosphere generated by two sets of fans baying for each others blood. In fact, I'd go down the Bundesleague route and bring back some form of terracing - maybe a 5000 capacity section in each gorund, those memories are special and it's a shame younger fans will never get to experience that atmosphere.

standing terraces are one of the reasons the bundesliga has the highest average attendance in europe

In soccer, the fans care who wins.

Muppets need some tribe to latch on to, in most of Europe it's your football team.
