    Outsourcing in UK?

Nobody talks about it any longer?
I've seen much of the rest of the world. It is brutal and cruel and dark, Rome is the light.

    Nope.

We don't mention Fast Track Visas, foreigners nicking our jobs, IR35 or New Labour either.

All we care about now are what AtW had for lunch and what his squirrels are up to.

Not saying ftv, foreigners, etc. but the outsourcing... has it stopped already in the UK?

It's now called Globalisation is it is a wonderful thing. It means we can still have a fantastic living without actually working and everything becomes cheaper for us.

It is happening and more than ever.

Not so sure about that, it seems to be swinging the other way.

There seems to have been something of a backlash against outsourcing / off shoring / whatever you call it in the last 6 months.

Maybe it's swinging the other way in the public sector. Certainly seems to be increasingy utilised by the big consultancies.

Let's not forget Apple which closed down the whole research center with 3000 people or so, all relocated back to US.

Yes, but the cost benefits seem to be eroding fast, especially in India.

My last contract role got outsourced to the Philippines by Accenture once it was becoming more of a support job. If it's possible to outsource something they will. I think the consultancies are a bit more cautious about developing new stuff offshore unless they can get a dumb enough client to foot the bill for the ensuing mess.

Wage inflation in India is arond 15% so yes the benefits are eroding slightly. However there is still a significant enough gap to make it an attractive proposition given the right circumstances.
