    XBOX 360 Live

    So calling all extreme gamers

Does anyone use the Xbox 360 live features to play against friends e.t.c. on line. I have an Xbox don't get chance to play it much so have never got the additional kit to use it on-line.

When i went into Game today they said i would need the connection to my broadband (obvious) and a head set to talk to people. Do you have to talk to people or can you just simply go on their to play.

    What games do you play.

No you don't need to talk to people.

I have the headset turned on if playing with mates, but turn it off if playing with strangers.

I play Dead or Alive 4 and Gears of War mainly online.

one thing to be wary of when playing against strangers, Live is full of spotrty teanagers that spend all their spare time getting good at games so they can win online, it can get very frustrating for casual gamers.

My only 2 online acheivements unlocked for DOA4 are:
    5 Straight Losses
    10 Straight Losses

Interesting to know. Don't they have a fairer system to match up games i.e. 30+ year old people who have a job and kids?

Resistance fall of man does this (or at least tries to) but the spotty teens are still far too good for me.

is it easy to set up and use can you leave a game at any point when playing on line or do you have to wait until you have completed certain things ? I was thinking of playing Call of Duty 4 which the wife is getting me for chritmas along with the xbox live gear if i want that. Anyone played it on live yet ?

Headset is good for things like GRAW and the like, to chat about what's happening.

I have always played video games since I was a kid but lost interest a few years ago... then Xbox live came about, it really is the best thing to happen in video gaming in recent years.

You don't have to talk to people but if you are going to play a team game then its pretty much essential, don't be shy and every time you meet someone who's on the same wavelength just send them a friends request thus ensuring you play with like minded people whenever you go online, you can have up to 100 people on your friends list so there will always be someone you know, whenever I switch on there is rarely less than 25 people on my list who are playing.

There are plenty of gaming groups for Dad's and older gamers who don't take things too seriously and don't put up with whining yank kids, I'll PM you a good one if you like.

                I'm 36 BTW

My brother got that for the xbox 360, it crashed 3 times in 15 minutes.

It's the best game I have ever played bar none, you may find it a little tough going since most people will have a had a lot of practice by then but stick with it as it's easy to pick up, prepare to be pwned a lot though!

I guess his Xbox is buggered then as there are no known issues with the game crashing, the GPU is a weak point on the 360 and anything GFX intensive will tend to help it on its way to the RROD, newer consoles are more reliable.
