If you could change one event in history, what would it be?

There was a poll reported on the radio this morning. The best people could come up with was 9/11 and Princess Di. So saving only 3001 people's lives.

Have you guys not seen Back to Future.

Everything would be completely different and none of us would be here if the event predated our conception.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

WW2 of course, purely out of wondering what life would be like now.

Then again, better the devil you know and all that.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

He could never undo millions of people having nooky at slightly different times because of an extended newsnight.
