There's a chap at the client site to whom I send invoices, for a project which I do 2-3 days a month. He checks them, prints them out, authorises them and sends them to accounts.

I sent him my invoice this month, only to discover that he died a few weeks ago - quite young, early 40s. I spoke to him a few times, and he was quite a personable chap. His foremost quality though, as far as I am concerned, is that he got me paid on time with no fuss.

So, I raise a virtual glass to Michael. Even though he worked in HR.
