Don't mess around, go to Simpsons. Not in the city but only a short a cab ride away (or one stop from London Bridge mainline).

went there last year. Definitely a good place though, I'd recommend it, they cater for groups, nice high ceilings so you can make a bit of noise

Not really what you'd think of as a Christmas lunch destination but if you are looking in the city for something different you won't go wrong with a seafood experience at the Royal Exchange. The fruits de mer are especially fine.
