Alcohol wasn't banned under the Saddam regime and the Christian minority had significant legal protection under the legal code. Mind you, they were just as likely to be carted off in the middle of night and shot by the secret police as anybody else so I'm not saying that makes the Saddam regime a good thing, even if the roads were clean and the buses ran on time.Comment
