    Excessive exercise

    Rather than hijack Snaw's thread...

Apparently that bloke died from a heart attack when his aorta was blocked by furring of the artery that flaked off . He used to have an unhealthy lifestyle a decade or so before he became a keep fit fanatic and dislodged some of the damage he had done in the past.
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

That''s why the advice if you are middle aged and want to start doing loads of exercise is to go for a medical before starting.

BTW he would have died soon anyway.

There is some statistic that exercise only adds about 5-7 years on to your life.

However it does mean you can eat more chocolate and cakes, and fit into your clothes in those years.

      Thank you Bagpuss

They go from one extreme to another, don't they?

He was a nice guy but obsessed with exercise. Which reminds me ex smoker SASguru is doing a half marathon

The only marathon he is doing is in his wild imagination in which he is also a successful property guru.

            Stranger things have happened........

Anyway it's only a half there easy if you do the training.

What suprises me is that people are shocked after every marathon someone dies. Looks like noone seem to remember that the original guy in Greece who run this distance to delivery the message did so and died pretty much straight away. That's why marathon actually became known - had he not died then it is likely that there would have been something else (but also with dead guy at the end).

So, if you run marathon then take out life insurance and check the small print.

What I always wonder is are you better off doing exercise but generally eating crap, or eating healthily but lazing around barely moving.

And if exercise is so good for you, how come professional sporty types are always injured?

There was a theory a few years ago that you are born with a pre-determined number of calories to burn once you have burned them that is it. Sounds fairly obvious especially when you consider ex professional sports people seem to die earlier than average.

Comeon you rlot, use your heads here.

Yes we read about a few stories each year about people who die while jogging.

if it was news worthy, how many would we hear about who died sitting on the sofa?
                    eating pies?
in their sleep? (Oh no, sleeping is bad for you!!)

Come on man, think about it.
