The figures were released by the Office for National Statistics in a Commons written answer.

They show that in England in 2005 there were 387 people for every square kilometre, and this rose to 390 per square kilometre in 2006.

This is around 620 per square mile.

At that rate England will now have overtaken the most crowded major country in Europe, Holland, which had 393 people for every square kilometre in 2005.


All due to "immigrants" and "immigrant children" according to the relaxed and sensible Daily Mail.

What I find amusing is that in this country so many people live on such a small territory, yet most houses are 2 levels and many with gardens, yet in Russia with 10000 times more territory (or 1000 times more) people live in tower blocks of 22 storeys in Moscow and there is not enough housing there, never was and it seems never will be.

They have done up a lot of these: the key thing is to minimise the number of dwellings accessible from a given entrance, otherwise the pikiness spreads all over the entire estate.
