    Herniated/Slipped disc and Sciatica

Am suffering from this at the moment. Sitting at the computer makes it worse.

I guess my limbo dancing days are over. Anyone had this treated (MRI scans and surgery) or do I have to walk round like I have a carrot up my @rse for the rest of my years.

    Bloody old age.

    Why not?

Sounds like you are eligible for long-term disability benefit. Either that or 'early' retirement.

Have you tried the less 'invasive' treatments first before going the surgery route? Chiropractor sorted my back out last year although admittedly it wasn't Sciatica.

Been dealing with it for years using NSAID's and exercise etc. Now getting so bad I am in constant pain. Seeing the quack next week and will ask about MRI and surgery. Have private medical so hopefully won't be too bad.

Can I get those oriental ladies to walk on my back on the NHS?

Had surgery at the other end of the spine. Double discectomy - C3/C4 and C4/C5.

Went from opiates to nothing. It was like the pain was just switched off.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

Try a chriopractor first. If they can reallign it and fix it wihtout surgery it is well worth it.

Mrs PRC's Grandfather had sciatica that the NHS told him was beyond cure.

A dose of acupuncture later and he felt fine. It lasted the 10 years he had left in him too.

I have L4/L5 herniated/sliped disc. Get various pains including sciatica. I have had 2 MRI scans and 1 operation to elieve pain. All the next operations involve hard core surgery.

From the web it seems it usually gets better by the time you are 50 - scar tissue forms and disc will flatten out.

I am lucky that seating s my best position - standing/walking bad. Running seems ok!

Can I ask how old you are? Whch medical professionals have you seen so far?

I used to suffer from massive back pain for years. some days could not even stand. Then I changed my car and almost overnight, was completely pain free.

                    Strange but true.
