      And the Americans don't call it a Biro. Maybe something to do with the fact that the first commercial pen was produced by the Hungarian Biro, and copied and sold in the US (by Reynolds) without paying any royalties.

        I actually hate writing with biros - I think it's to do with the point size (1mm) I prefer a bigger brush-stroke!
