    Most expensive accountants award

I did a post a few months ago about my 'accountants' retaining the margin between VAT invoiced and VAT paid through the flat rate VAT scheme, good chaps that they are.

Well I got my end of year accounts through this week, and low and behold, I think they've won the award for the most expensive accountants again.

    1 year 'accountancy' cost me £3,400. That's a nice figure isn't it.
Now they've said that they're entitled to this since it's in their terms and conditions, so who am I to argue.

Needless to say, I've since parted company. When I tried to move my company to a new accountants, the new accountants refused to touch anything to do with my previous accountants with a barge pole.

Such is the cost of lessons in life.

Please name and shame, how can they possibly just keep your portion of the FR VAT? I'd be tempted to get legal advice on that.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

My accountant has cost me a similar amount by not placing my company on the flat rate scheme - I've asked him to sort it out a few times. Which means that I will also be moving accountants in the very near future. I had to pick up some of my old paperwork from his office the other week. It was handed over in Tescos carrier bags - very professional.
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

                  I preferred version 1!

Shocking, not one of the well known ones surely?
