Sharia law in UK is 'unavoidable'

Troll must be under his bridge somewhere to have missed this one.

    Enjoy...discuss...abuse chico...whatever...

The Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams says the adoption of Islamic Sharia law in the UK is "unavoidable".
Dr Williams told BBC Radio 4's World at One that the UK has to "face up to the fact" that some of its citizens do not relate to the British legal system.

so not only do these people get translators for everything so no need to learn english but they also want to opt out of certain aspects of the legal system

only 1 step from that to having muslim/non-muslim stamped on your hand at birth

If people wish to live under sharia law they are perfectly welcome to leave the UK to go to a country that practices sharia law.
      It's Deja-vu all over again!

        ******* Muppet

You can't have one set of laws for Muslims and another set for everybody else. If one group has their own separate laws who is going to update them? If the people who have chosen to have thier own laws are allowed to change and update them what is the chance that they will make it legal for them to do things that others can't because of differing laws?

        What happens then? Chaos.........

If it is an appendage to the Laws of England and Wales in the form of a 'method' to solve 'quarrels' between muslims then I cannot see a problem.

If they seek to use it as juristiction or to disregard the law of the land then I cannot see it going through.

Thats bishop fellow is a dope.

I heard this on the news and could not believe it!

A lot of it is muslim propoganda to try and get sharia law introduced in full to the UK.

The bits that usualy get talked about are inheritance and divorce settlements. These do not have to go to law in the UK as long as all parties accept the outcome. Muslims could do this anyway without having to go to law.
The problem is that women are treated a lot less favourably under sharia than UK (or other national law). A point not missed by the Canadian muslim women who fought not to have sharia introduced there.

It is only because Williams is such a hand wringing liberal who wants to appease everyone instead of confronting issues that he cant see what is going on and wont see how to solve the issues.

The church has no place in politics or law. Advisory yes, all religions have some advice to give but a seat on the board and promotion through the media should be banned.
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

IMO, The Arch Bishop of Canterbury is a tit. Making comments like that will just add fuel to the already simmering fire of resentment.

If they can have Sharia, then where will it end?

If the brainless lot need their own relgion and laws, then let them fook off to a country that will allow it...just not here thanks!!

Can we have sharia family law please?

And I dont mean that seriously - it would be as bad for women as uk law is for men.

Time to softly outlaw all religions - a good start would be making it illegal for anyone under the age of 21 to receive any religious studies, only when the person is grown up it might be allowed to get this information to make up his/her mind on the basis of all known evidence.

                    Good idea!

Can we also practise this on them? So, if they are caught stealing, then we can chop their hands off, if they kill, we'll stone them, etc. Or is it not fit for the 'infidels'?
