    Who are the Civilised Nations?

We keep hearing these words in the news all the time these days. So, question is:

    1) which countries are part of the "civilised nations", and which are not,

    2) what does a country have to do to be in the group of "civilised nations"?

    (1) us and them, respectively

    (2) too late, if you're in you're in. If not, you're out.

      Have an effective immigration policy
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

The "Civilised Nations" are those with nukes.
The "Uncivilised Nations" are those without them.
The "Really Uncivilised Nations" are those attempting to acquire them.

Any country that can afford nuclear weapons and feed its population.

Big clue, not India or Pakistan!

Seems like the concensus of opinions is the having Nukes is the key to being civilised.

Now I'm confused - how can the ability to kill on a very large scale be deemed civilised?

So Israel is more civilized than Switzerland?

I think a civilized country is where the rights of the individual citizens are taken seriously and protected by a secular law.

                    Language-based

I'd say all native English-speaking nations (OK, maybe French and German ones too!). I know it may include Aussies and Kiwis, but it's OK.
