Looked quite good initially, but failed to live up to expectations. Too many cringingly self-conscious moments.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

tried to watch it a few times and really can't get into it.
The story lines seem funny enough but the improv is either badly faked or badly done and is painful to watch

No. Nothing else of any genre comes anywhere close to being as bad as CYE.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

                Never watched it.

                What makes it so good?

Well, judging from the underwhelming response so far I'd have to say, nada.

It's written and stars the main writer behind Seingfeld - same sort of humour, but not as funny IMO (That's assuming you found Seinfeld funny, which I never really).

                    Dons flame retardant suit.

I quite enjoyed it in the same way I enjoyed the office (but don't consider it in the same league). It's the incredibly painful pauses due to his social ineptness that make it funny IMO.

Each to their own I guess.
