off topic - what is a Xena Deck?

I am currently in an area of Canary Wharf which is mainly building site at the moment. On a half-finished building next to me there is a large-ish platform coming out from the side.

It is a extends maybe 12 feet and is about 15 feet across. It appears to be secured at some point inside the shell of the building.

It is yellow and obviously temporary and has "Xena Deck" on the side. A web search doesn't shed any light. Anyone know what the purpose of this is?

How can this be off-topic? You've just started a thread!

Does that mean every reply has to be off topic?

What are your thoughts on spandex jumpsuits?

It's a work platform, we use them mostly on newbuilds and for heavy engineering works off bridges etc

Bah - you're no fun Diver.

Do you have to wear spandex to work on one of these?

No, but it helps and looks good with my yellow helmet

Got some, but bad hand prevents proper application.

If you were a decent helpful mate..........

Getting back to the, erm, topic, I still don't understand the purpose.

What do you do on the platform you can't do on the floor of the building?
