Good find, and some cogent comments. Much as I relish Ambrose Evans-Pritchard's doom-laden reports about the EU, and pray to God they come true, it seems like he has probably missed the mark here.
P.S. I particularly like the way this guy thinks (not sure how many of his wise words will be tinkered with or, as he'd put it, buggered about with by the swear filter though ):
editorialstaff net notes: The US idiots buggering the American Dollar are the same criminal political class that infest the UK and other governments. The only reason the US economy perks along quite nicely, thank you, is that the Euro/UK idiot criminals are far more talented at buggering your currency, for far more hopeless ingrained socialism, than our hopelessly incompetent bureaucrats who bugger the dollar with all their might, for their own stealing, as well as socialism, but simply cannot keep up with their more practiced competitors in old Europe, UK, et al. We owe a debt of gratitude to your idiots.Work in the public sector? Read the IR35 FAQ here -
Iceland appears to be a big hedge fund, only it is their banks that highly leveraged things - I'd stay away from those as they are good candidates to be allowed to go bust completely.Comment

Me and Mrs ferret got a bit of cash each in there after flogging the house. Thought it was OK on reading the Money Saving Expert site but they have since changed their stance on it. Some is backed by the Icelandic Gov. (20K Euros I think) then the rest can be reclaimed by the UK Gov. Not sure I fancy risking 20k Euros to Iceland so started application to open up a new account not in the passport scheme and me and the good lady will be moving our cash.my ferret is your ferretComment

shows 20k Euros backed by other than the FSA.
Confirmed here:

to see that not all of it is Guaranteed by the FSA...
So up to you if you think that getting the 20k Euros back from Iceland will not be a problem. To me it is also a worry thinking if more than one UK bank went, how the heck would the FSA be able to cough up that amount of cash?

Kaupthing Edge is covered up to the 35k limit, 6.5% tooThe court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”Comment
