I've come over all teary eyed for the mid-70s. Who else agrees with the New Economics Foundation that 1976 was the best year ever? Ah, those long, hot summer days.
I went on holiday to wales.
Visited the Elan valley because one of the flooded villages was exposed.
Had a great holiday.
Wasnt sure if I left the gas on in the caravan when we left though.

When I got back to Wales, most of the land around the Heads of the Valleys road appeared to be on fire...
No change there then.
Bizarre. I went to Scotland on holiday in 1976. It did indeed rain and I was amazed that they had things like green grass. When I got back to Birmingham, everything was okay for us because we put out all the scrub fires with water from Wales.
That was on the St David's Day (March 1st) episode of Not the Nine O'clock News
Along with the wonderful "Failed In Wales" WDA Advert pisstake.
Classic stuff.
Of course that was about 15 years before the LG semiconductor plant debacle which made all the others pale into insignificance by comparison (£150M or so)...
I liked the "laid in Wales" verse myself.
