    Eurostar sets a new record!

And it's one they are not proud of. 12hrs+ to go from London to Paris

PARIS (Reuters) - A Eurostar train from London to Paris arrived in the French capital on Saturday almost 10 hours late after passengers were forced to change trains twice during an overnight journey that normally takes just over two hours.

"There was a whole series of technical problems and mix-ups but the situation is completely unacceptable," Mireille Faugere, director of passenger services for French rail operator SNCF, told reporters waiting for the train to arrive at the Gare du Nord in Paris. He then added that as Eurostar is carbon neutral, the passengers could at least have the satisfaction that they have not damaged l'ecosystem

"When the Eurostar finally pulled into the station at around 9:15 a.m., almost 10 hours after its scheduled time, passengers were greeted by rail staff offering compensation vouchers and breakfast as well as a crowd of reporters and cameramen."

In the UK they would have got nothing - at least Eurostar got something right.

or the station would be locked

After finally arriving at Bath station at 0400 GMT, the weary travellers discovered the station doors were locked and all staff had left.

Some of the passengers formed a battering ram to break down a door while others walked across the tracks.

Yup, thats the one! Not forgetting the banging and crashing of the staff looting the drinks trolly in the background.

On behalf of eurostar I'd like to thank you for travelling with us today.

That would be "Thank you for travelling with us yesterday and today".

You are so right. I was on a Eurostar from Brussels to London. The train was delayed five hours making the journey time of about seven. Cafeteria was closed and not even drinking water available. On arrival in London not only the Eurostar office was closed but also it was too late in the evening/early morning to catch onward connections. No compensation what so ever from Eurostar.

So proves it is not a Eurostar difference - just difference in the way French/English work?

In France, any nonsense and they will start a riot and torch something - in this country we just tut a bit and write a letter to the times...
