    Tough on crime?

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7366258.stm

Inmates are so comfortable in jail that they do not want to escape, a prison officer union leader says.

Glyn Travis of the Prison Officers Association says inmates are happy to stay inside because they can get hold of drugs, mobile phones and even sex.

He said a dealer regularly broke into a Yorkshire prison by using a ladder to enter cell windows - but no inmate used the ladder as a means of escape.

What was it that Tony Blair used to say about crime?

Tony Blair... I'm sure I remember who that was... Oh wait a minute... no, that was Steve Guttenberg.

      Was he on the telly?

Looking at the state of some of the poorer areas I'm not suprised.

It's really only the thoughts of getting buggered in the shower that really deters people these days. The actual facilities are not much worse than staying in a hostel.

All about human rights taken too far.

You're missing the point here I feel.

You're going to pay for these peoples upkeep anyway but at least in prison their causing less congestion on the roads and not pushing up house prices.

Good point. Maybe they should change the name from prison to anti-social housing.

Augh! Even inmates get laid more than me. That is a crime.
