    R I P Humph

Great man, not many of those around
    BeebNews

Taken the edge of an otherwise wonderful sunny day here. Definitely a loss to a great British way of life.
Speaking gibberish on internet talkboards since last Michaelmas. Plus here on Twitter

Very sad. I wonder if they'll continue with I'm sorry I haven't a clue with somebody else.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

Tis a shame indeed. Doubtful they'd continue as it just wouldn't be the same IMHO.

Now Lyttleton and George Melly have both popped off, I wonder who the British grand old man of jazz is now. Not that I'm too bothered, as I never much cared for it.

I saw good old George at Ronnie Scotts many years ago for a New Years Eve Party with many friends...he told an absolutely foul joke that ended with "...I asked for a tall bird with a tight pussy..."

Spoke to him afterwards - really nice guy but he had his roving eye on my wife, the dirty old sod!

          Nice guy, sadly missed...
If you think my attitude stinks, you should smell my fingers.

The only British Jazz players that I know of are Acker Bilk, Kenny Ball and Johnny Dankworth and of those three I rate Johnny Dankworth the best.

I should qualify my previous comment by saying that Jazz is probably the only music I make a point of NOT listening to (with the exception of the 3 aforementioned practitioners) so my knowledge of the genre is limited.
