Put petrol in my car this morning. £64! How can us ordinary working folk afford that? How can I afford to eat? Bastard government.

You're too poor to run a car.

    Use public transport.

Cost me £95 yesterday - All my own fault for owning a environment ruining (allegedly) gas guzzler. Couldn't afford to run it if I wasn't claiming the mileage back.

It's a strange world where a car costs more to have a drink than a person.

          1 ltr coke 99p
          1 ltr petrol £1.10p litre
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

As, Ed Balls, former chief economic adviser to the Treasury, would say, "So what".
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
