    Red Arrows

    Anyone else received this mail?

Please forward this to as many people as possible!!!

The world-famous Red Arrows have been banned from appearing at the 2012 London Olympics because they are deemed 'too British'.

Organisers of the event say that the Arrows military background might be 'offensive' to other countries taking part in the Games. The display team have performed at more than 4000 events worldwide, but the Department of Culture, Media and Sport have deemed the display team 'too militaristically British.' Red Arrows pilots were said to be 'outraged', as they had hoped to put on a truly world class display for the Games, something which had never been seen before. Being axed from a British-based event for being 'too British' is an insult - the Arrows are a symbol of Britain .

The Red Arrows have been excellent ambassadors for British overseas trade, as they display their British-built Hawk aircraft all over the world.

The Arrows performed a short flypast in 2005 when the winning bid was announced, but their flypast at the Games was to have been truly spectacular.

It is to be hoped that common sense prevails.

Forward this on to everyone you can.

What the hell is this country coming to?
Were the red arrows part of the ww2?

Went around ages ago and is a load of rubbish. When it came out the red arrows hadn't been asked and knew nothing about this so called ban.

Some BNP Propaganda designed to whip up some hysterical immigrant hating no doubt.

IIRC they've not been banned and this was an over reaction?

            Most definitely not.

When my dad was in the RAF, based at Tangmere, we used to see the Red Arrows frequently, practising. A truly amazing site any day of the week. Gives me a lump in my throat whenever I see them. Particularly the day at Fowey in Cornwall, when they were flying along the river valley, and I was standing on the cliff overlooking the river - at a greater altitude than they were at times. Unbelievable.

My old man was head engineer or some-such for the red arrows when they were at Fairford in the 60's and then up in Lincolnshire in the 80's too. Got some photos of him with them somewhere. They are a superb sight.

                Sandy: Google for their history.
All Red Arrows pilots are combat pilots though the team itself is a display team only and takes the best pilots to show off.
The Red Arrows themselves were not formed till well after WW2 so no. The Red Arrows did not fly in WW2 though there have been display teams and therefore pilots since the 1920s (I think) so you could say they did.

I have worked on Hawk. Some of the pilots used to call in. The Red Arrows did a performance for the factory on their birthday.

As others have said, this was a hoax.
I am not qualified to give the above advice!
