Hello,
Im a 28 year old who has been contracting since Feb; had the usual issue of being a quick learner who permy companies were trying to hold back for their own gains eg promising development etc.
Only started career in 2005 when stumbled into the industry and through a lot of hardwork, career strategy and a lot of text book studying have moved into contracting. Have had 3 perm employers since 2005 quitting each time for the other due to refusal to give salary raises and or/development so just had enough- was impressing senior management as was business facing so though why not actually make some money out of it rather than get 30k a year- and having worked with contractor realised many were blagging it anyway !!
Determined to do it my way
- not giving any leads to agents (mostly politely explaining why) or putting up with other rubbish.
- turning down potential clients who are too much trouble (eg RBS still need someone to sort out their banking charges system- I explained I was not willing to be a multi-site project manager, business analyst and sole access & sql developer for 300 a day working on a high profile business critical project )
Skills are SSIS, SSRS, VBA,ado etc in Excel & Access. bit of c# and asp which im developing further- specialise in sql server (MCTS)/reporting/etl/full lifecycle MIS etc
Been reading the forum for a while and been a lot of help
