    Indian/Pakistani MCSEs

I am not a racist (Some of my best friends are black).

Every CV I get from an Indian/Pakistani candidate is littered with IT Certs and they proclaim they have experience in every technology known to man. I interview them and they're all clueless. I asked one guy today to talk about his 2 years Linux experience, he said it was mainly gained troubleshooting printers that Linux boxes connected to.

Can you trust an Indian/Pakistani CV? I think not.

Definitely a racist me, I hate all HORRIBLE FOREIGN people. However, all the Indians I have actually worked with have been horribly bright and competent.

        Indian Yes, Pakistani No.
Pakistani education system is substandard and full of corruption. nearly everyone forges or exaggerates their credentials.
I interviewed a Candidate from Pakistan once who claimed to have experience in Oracle. I put together a test of basic Oracle and SQL...he couldn't answer a single question.

The Indian educational system is of a higher standard. I heard once about some people who could not get into the Indian Technology Institute (ITI?), and ended up at some high-class American school. (Brown or Carnegie-Mellon..can't recall)

Pakistani's also tend to come here to work in their uncle's fruit stall. And then hang around for 20 years - illegally.

generally I agree with lilelvis below, but to be fair, some people do take a wide view of "experience" for the CV. I have seen youngsters on this board ask, I think innocently, if it was OK to put something on your CV if you had worked on a system that used it, even if you didn't actually know anything about the tool yourself.

As in, I worked in support on this system that ran on unix. I didn't use it myself, can I put it on my CV, or should I only put down things that I am expert in?

Really, I exaggerate not. I have seen this here.....

You just have to look at some of the areas around Bradford.

Research for BBC2's Newsnight in November 2005 showed British Pakistanis accounted for 3.4% of all births but have 30% of all British children with "recessive disorders".
