Just a guess, but you are applying for the Prison Service, and your brother is an ex-con. You'd have access to other con's details via the system.

I don't think they're saying you're a bad'un, just that you could possibly put in a vulnerable position with that particular role, should brother find out and decide to be un-estranged?

Who knows?

It could be your brother.

It could be your tenant. (I doubt it as debts are linked to the person not the landlord unless he stole your ID for a few of them.)

It could be your own credit record.

It could be your speeding and seatbelt offences.

Or it could be another member of your close family who is more crooked then you know.

can't you just ask them I thought under the data protection act they need to release all details they have on you

If I understand correctly, this kind of thing is exempt.

What do you all reckon. a or b?

Also, how the hell do I find out why I have failed. The agency and HMPS are unable to give me any information.

Thanks for any advice any of you can give.

Firstly, you signed the official secrets act as part of completing the form so you've just commited a "no no"!

Why? Does the fact you've failed SC become secret as soon as it happens?
