    Newsnight grrrrr

"We have over 1M patients treated every 36 hours - for free"

FFS, it's not feeeking free. It costs approx £1500 per person per year.

Enough to buy some fairly decent health insurance.

When are we going to stop listening to this socialist non-sense.

    It's not free!

(I'm not going to watch it when Paxman isn't on anymore that Scottish woman is a fecking socialist)

Tell you what Lucy, you opt out.

Then be involved, through no fault of your own, in a serious road traffic accident and be taken to hospital.

Then die in a corridor because you've opted out of the NHS and you can't prove that you can pay for the treatment you need to save your life.

It happens a lot more in the States than it does here, and you're welcome to it.

(Which one is the "I spit on your grave" smiley? )

What concerns me is how much of that money goes to management consultants - McKinsey, Accenture etc.

Unlimited "free" healthcare is counter-darwinian. All the thick chavs who should die off are provided with healthcare by the intelligent half of the population.

I think the point is how it is described as being free. It isn't it is actually pretty expensive. So for that expense it should be better than it is. While I have no problem with a 'free' NHS, I don't like how it is

1 - described as being free when my taxes pay for it
2 - is totally free to whoever comes here either ill or gets ill once they are here.

If I went to pretty much any nation on earth I couldn't expect to get the same health care 100% free like people hitting the UK do.
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

            I preferred version 1!

                  The NHS is not "FREE".

It is "Free at the point of need."

The problem with the NHS is the standard of care, it can range from poor to excellent depending on postcode.

On the whole it's an excellent service, but could be greatly improved and not by throwing money at it. This seems to be conservative policy, so they get my vote on that one.

Private healthcare, yes excellent, but who trains the doctors/surgeons the good old NHS. So most private care in this country has also been subsidised by the NHS.

No American system in this country thanks.
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”
