    Toxic Contractors

    So...this might be dangerous ground but what's the worst, waste of space, freeloading, mental, really seriousley mental or just plain annoying contractor you've had the misfortune to work with?

    Right now I'm sat in the contractor corner with my colleague who spends his entire day (usually about 10-4) making personal calls to his many, many contacts and family members who wish to "visit" or "study in" the UK. If he ever has the mis-fortune to need to do some work he just asks someone how to do it, in detail, and copies verbatim. So that's annoying and free-loading.

    Previousley I had a junior in my team who was another recent arrival and he was just mental as well as being a liar and a sneak. The client wouldn't get rid of him though because they were worried that they would be branded as a racialist (the manager was/is very,very stupid - I'm talking about a Big Telecoms company, whose managment are legendary for their incompetence). In the end he pulled a knife on me - I ran away and called the police. Seriousley mental.

    A recent colleague was this 60+ year old lady from Romania. Hired by another clued in manager despite having so little knowledge she had to call tech-support to get instructions on how to work a non-rotary phone. Not only that, but whenever anyone tried to help her, give advice, she would start arguing with them, and would not stop. In the end the agency threatened to withold her pay and sue her and she sat in the corner muttering darkly in some crazy language until the end of the contract. Mental.

    Now I better do some work - wouldn't want to be a free-loader now
    Bored.

    If that's the competition, you're sorted. Boomed.

        We had a bloke on one project who used to bash the keys (I don't mean this euphemistically) really hard which was pretty distracting for the rest of us. He would break off every now and again to shout into his phone at some agent saying things like "tell the fekkers I won't touch it for less than seven hundred a day" - we were sat in room full of poorly-paid permies.

        He didn't get renewed.

          I worked with a 'sas programmer' who obviously didn't know SAS. Each program was written like a letter.

          Dear SAS;
          Please do a proc report;
          run;
          The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

          But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

                How did she manage to call them?

                    I sure as tulip are, its human nature, its how you react to your prejudice that is the important bit.
