Real cost of living is 9.5%

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/mai...fliving113.xml

Rising food and fuel prices, as well as increased taxes and other household bills, mean the average family must cope with inflation that is twice as high as official estimates, according to new research by The Daily Telegraph and moneysupermarket.com, the price comparison website. Taking all these factors into account, the Real Cost of Living Index (RCLI) is rising at 9.5 per cent.

So unless you guys are getting 10%+ rate increases every year, you is being robbed.

Or in the current climate a quick exit
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

Or think of it as your standard of living is getting 9.5% worse every year. It will never reach zero though, so it's not too bad.

Depends whether money is wave-like or particle-like.

And if I throw lots of pound coins through two slits in a wall, will contractors interefere with themselves?

WHS. Even the missus was complaining last night that inflation "can't be 4% it must be higher".

But what government is going to admit that "real" inflation for the average man on the Clapham omnibus is 9.5% ?? That's a sure fire vote loser and catalyst for more stupidity/panic from the general public.

Even just reading ContractorUK raises one's IQ by osmosis.

If the government admitted that the inflation rate as experienced by most people is far higher than the nonsense CPI figure then load of other costs like pensions, benefits, the NMW and public sector pay would shoot up. At the moment most of sacrifices made to combat inflation has been borne by the poor by falling living standards as they have a greater exposure to items that are going up in price like food and energy. For them, they have an effective inflation rate closer to 33% than 3.3%. But nobody care about them, least of all the nuLieBore government.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
