    Professionalism !

Bad day, permie made redundant on tuesday, and yet there is me documenting permie code for meeting tomorrow with stateside regarding handover and my contract ends on thursday(next week). Do we maintain a professional attitude or.... sod that I'm a contractor, it's up to the permie to provide or to give handover. I always had the belief, never leave a client unhappy, it's our job, hence Professionalism

Why should I spend until now documenting code, it's not all money after all

And yes... 1 minute passed 12, rioja, VS 2008, and yes I'm looking through code, even after 13 years of contracting maybe us contractors have some pride

If you are having to put yourself out, it is only for a few more days.

Keep professional, (keep sending out CVs), make sure they know you are doing them a favour, (keep ringing those agencies), make sure they have your business card, (update LinkedIn & send invitations to colleagues before you leave), ask if they have any other work, (keep bitching on here to help you cope).

Professional face at the front. Cover your arse at the rear.

              Rules

              'Golden Rules' are:
              1. Permies don't do any work during their last month before leaving.
              2. Similarly, Contractors shouldn't do any work during their last week of the contract, apart from clearing their desks, e-mails, arranging drinks, new contract search, etc.

I’m out and I’m proud – I swing both ways.

It’s the rest of you who have a problem.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
