Does anyone use a firm of accountants called Parker Cavendish? They have a lot of IT contractors on their books but the rates seem pretty high (about £150/month) - is their service that good (i.e. tax planing advice, doing lots to take the load off the contractor) or am I better off with one of the 'cheaper' accountants?

So can I take it that no one on the forum has heard of this outfit? Getting a reccomendation to switch to them but it sounds like a lot for little. Any advice welcome. -
Never heard of 'em. Website wouldn't suggest contractor specialists but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Do a bit of research. Give them a call and ask them some questions specific to your circumstances and see how they feel.Comment

I use Parker Cavendish - have done so ever since the MSC legislation came in. I was with Actinium (Consulting Overseas in a former life I believe) and they transferred a lot of their contractor base to PC and a fair amount of ex-Actinium Staff went to PC at the time, which made the transition easier.
Never had any issues and any queries I have had, have been answered promptly and efficiently. But you are right... not the cheapest, but inertia set in etc etc..Comment

Wow that is expensive!
I know a few others are cheaper Nixon Williams charge between £60 and £95 I know this as I got a leaflet sent to me a while ago, it’s £95 if you want your own accountant, which you do, SJD are also at £95 and I think JSA are also around £100.
Just a small word of caution, make sure they don't do too much for you as you wouldn't want to be caught by MSC.Comment

I am with Parker Cavendish - same story as Normal Bloke (ex Actinium). Yes they are not the cheapest and I am not convinced they take care of me - I do not get chasing messgaes if I do not supply VAT info well in advance. Now perhaps I am old enought to remember these things (or perhaps age is the issue with memory loss?) but at this price I would expect a "gold" service that keeps me out of trouble.
I used them many years ago before Actinium and the service was much better - I suspect they have not managed the sudden increase in clients and service has dropped as a result.
I am considering a move - but inertia can be difficult!Comment
