    Working in New Zealand

I´m thinking about heading down to NZ for some years to work; would head to Auckland. Im am a UK citizen but have not lived in the UK since 1998 and am just about about to finish a 6 year contract here in Europe. I have 8+ years in J2EE and everything that goes with it and in my late 30s, sooooo:

Has anyone worked in NZ and if so how quickly do you think it would take to find work? Im not bothered about contract or permy.

As I understand it you can look for work while you are in NZ and the work to residence visa is easy to get (I have all the req qualifications etc).

Was thinking of just heading down and renting a room until I found something, it would just be myself as I split from my wife over a year ago. I would most likely not come back to Europe as I have no ties here.

    Was also considering OZ

    Any info would be grateful!
    Cheers!

I lived in Wellington for a year doing contract DBA & PM work for a govt dept. it's okay but a long long way away, really insular and isolated.

Have a look and phone some agents they are a bit better than the ones here, as the employment laws are tighter.

Tax-wise you can trade as an individual, you don't need a limited.

There are no jaffa cakes though.
