    Active Directory

the boss is having trouble getting display name from AD.

Thats all I know at the moment, I dont know where he is trying to get it from, but I am guessing VB.

Can anyone give me a starter for ten on AD and display name

thanks DaveB, I am past this point now. Looking at the possibility that display name is empty and the AD console (is there such a thing????) is displaying something else (could there be such a thing???)

is any of this possible ?

Objects tend to only have a display name if they have an Exchange mailbox.

Saying that if they had a mailbox and it was deleted it can still exist.

Use LDAP query much easier. May even work on non MS stuff.

The key is in the name, being a "boss" type, there's no way he's listed in the "Active" Directory.
