Don't be silly. Adminsitering the complex tax-credits scheme provides lots of people with a living. Simplifying it by raising the tax threshold would pointlessly shed jobs.

Hmm... tricky one, as it's possible for you to be paying up to £2.93 per post, and yet you haven't chosen to have an avatar - but you could. HMRC could well hold you liable for the potential value of all your posts at a total of £2411.39 and you'd have to prove you don't use avatars to avoid paying...

There are companies who will take your avatar, and keep it securely in an offshore holding facility. These have been untested in court, though.
