Did money start losing value to you?

    Hi
When you started to become a big-time contractor did money start losing it's value to you? I mean, did losing a £10 or spending a few quid more on something than perhaps you should... matter so much?

I used to go out for a few drinks after work with the permies, and then get a (£100) taxi home and not even bat an eyelid.

I was thinking that the other day. I bought a small blender for making post gym shakes off ebay for £15 and when it arrived it was a bit mince. I couldn't be bothered returning it for the £15. Is that bad?

I have to admit when the money is rolling in I tend to be more lackadaisical with my money. Probably explains why my quality of life is so poor when its not.

I can remember arguing with a friend when I wanted to buy some fudge from a little farm shop and they wanted to charge me 2.50 for using a card. The fudge was only £3 but I didn't have any cash. To me it didn't matter, but bugged the hell outta him. Silly permie

I lost £300 in a casino just before Christmas one night and just walked out with my mates without really caring... so I guess yes, possibly.

As soon as I got a contract, I bought a new electric razor.

The previous one was only 40 years old.
                  And it shows!

Just this afternoon I was deliberating over hotel options for a two night stay for a conference I'm attending next month: Premier Inn for £165 including breakfast, or sea view room at The Grand for £400 including breakfast, each a few minutes walk from the conference location.

The quality of The Grand's breakfast buffet is more than sufficient to justify the extra £235, in my view. And I'm on the bench...
