    Pestilence?

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politi...93.stm#threats

A flu pandemic is the gravest threat to UK security as it could claim up to 750,000 lives, according to a new National Risk Register.

The document, published for the first time, weighs up the likelihood of threats and their potential impact.

This'd be like the pandemic bird flu, that, er, never did any more damage than a couple of culled swans.

How the chuff would a pandemic killing 750k people be a threat to UK security?
Ok it would mess up the economy even faster than a UK Chancellor, but I fail to see how it would represent any kind of security risk.

Disaster yes, safety of the Realm no.

I should think that everybody would stay the hell away; for fear of catching the flu

Nonsense. We'd all die of farting then, which would be far worse.

You've come right out the other side of the forest of irony and ended up in the desert of wrong.

I have seen a riot yes, bloody unpleasant and scary.

That's however civil disorder and criminal damage, not a Security problem that risks the system of government, safety and integrity of the country as a whole and certainly doesn't endanger state secrets.
