Not touched any of it since 2000. The last client I knew running Pick switched to Win/Sql around then too. -

But touch wood I've never been desperate enough to seriously consider a contract with specialist legacy stuff like that (or old enough - like Cobol, it would be fine for some old timer coasting towards retirement but the kiss of death for anyone interested in keeping their skills current).Work in the public sector? It's my plan B though. There is supposed to come a time when I can't afford to retire yet, but the saving is done and I just need current income, not as high as at present. Then I'll take COBOL, which should give me more choice of location. And I'm sure it will still be in use.Comment

Yeah, there was OO COBOL too. They miss the point. COBOL is a plodder that makes it hard to do any algorithms deeper than "Add, Subtract, and Print Like Hell", but (perhaps because of that) looks after your data. That's why it's still around.Comment
