    Anyone in a wine club?

I've seen a few offers of cheap/free wine recently, I saw an ad at http://www.laithwaites.co.uk today. Assuming I can cancel after a week before the next batch is due, it seems great. Is this simply a case (!) that they think I will stay with them, or is it more sneaky?

Does anyone here belong to clubs like this properly, and are they better value than Tesco, for the person who spends £5 a bottle?

I use Laithwaites and Sunday Times. Good value and some great wines and if you don't like a particular wine simply give them a call and you don't pay for it. I have done this when a couple of bottles out of a case were distincly "off". The money for those 2 bottles was deducted from my next order with no quibbles.

I'm quite a fan of single malts, luckily my local Tesco is fairly huge and has quite a good selection in the £20-40 range, which is good since I can't really afford more than a 12-year-old.

ps: Does typing "12-year-old" make CUK rise on Google ranks for people looking for child porn?

Sunday Times Wine Club... great offers when you first join. You should be able to get £60 off in vouchers if you apply online. Its handy having a couple of crates at home! I haven't had a bottle I didn't like yet. :-)

I dont like wine, thought it was because I didnt understand the complexities.. so I went on a wine tasting course, 4 hours every week for 12 weeks... I now still dont like wine but know lots about it.

Luckily I didnt pay for the course. It was paid for by my first permie job as part of its staff happiness program....

I've a single malt open at the moment 'Whisky to watch the world go by' it's called. 22 years old 56.9% cost around £70 - it's got an amazing aroma, let me just open it again.... gordon bennet if I keep sniffing it I'm going to end up drinking it. Lovely oak aged smell about it.

You can order them to your door I'm sure only £80 per year for membership. http://www.smws.com/

I never tried a cask strength whisky, only the watered down 40% stuff. Is the idea you water it down yourself or actually drink it as it comes?
                    What distillery?
