      VCT's are specific investment companies that you may buy shares in and claim relief on the cost of those shares as part of your personal tax affairs.

      Returns on the investments are also free of CGT.

      There are no guarentees of positive returns from them and there are some strict limitations on hold long you have to hold the shares before you can sell them on.

        The liquidity is also very poor on most VCT. Check out the spread on the prices before buying.

        I take it you have your index linked gilt ISA sorted then? And you are now changing your risk profile from mostly harmless to elite?
