    Which John Le Carre Novel?

John Le Carre was being interviewed on Radio 4 whilst I was on my way home tonight.
Interesting bloke and whose books I've clearly ignored for too long.

Any recommendations on which one to start with?

    Start with the Karla trilogy:

Ignore Le Carre. Go for Len Deighton: Horse Under Water, The IPCRESS File, and his masterpiece: Billion Dollar Brain. Le Carre's stuff is dull and phony reality toot.

for le carre you will be wanting "the spy who came in from the cold". if you like it there's plenty more of the same.

yes, deighton is worth a go too - he's usually a bit more boy's own than le carre. i think "bomber" is his masterpiece though.
