What’s the best parting shot? The permy boss I work under is a right tosser, how can I make him pay??

I know the golden rules about remaining professional and not burning your bridges but this time it's different, he deserves bad things to happen. I don't want to lower myself to physical damage or pain, I was thinking more on the lines of utter humiliation.

I think your avatar seems to have the right idea. But don't be so quick to write of pain - a "coffee cup" resignation at the appropriate time can be very effective.

Depends what you have access to at ClientCo. If you are a sys admin then all sorts of things could end up in his email, CC'd from him to the CEO for example....

Might be unorthodox but it'll work - sing his praises to his boss and suggest he mightn't be challenged enough in his role. Sohuld lead to extra work, and a break down of sorts if he's anything like my old boss. No bridges burnt, uber-boss thinks you're ok, and knob-head boss gets his just-deserts!

Sleep with his daughter (assuming she's legal) and let him catch you in the kitchen the morning after, tucking into some crumpets whilst wearing his dressing gown. Nonchalanty say "good morning" as you walk past him, back to his daughter's bedroom for another round of crumpet.

Me and a couple of work colleagues used to laugh about doing that to our old boss, in my one and only permie job many moons ago. Though his daughter was fit, so no chore at all.

Is he a wilful egotistical tosser, like that character David Brent in The Office, or basically an inoffensive guy who happens to be an insufferable dweeb (a tiresome nitpicker for example)?

If it's the first maybe one approach would be to tell him, in front of everyone, how much he reminds you of David Brent (if plausible). The snag is some people like that would take it as a complement.
