    B&B Doom

    http://business.timesonline.co.uk/to...cle4844097.ece

B&B nationalised as Government takes on £40bn mortgage debt
    .................
Banco Santander, the Spanish bank that owns Abbey National, has bought the £20 billion deposit business and the network of 200 branches.
    .................

You see what they've done there?
UK gov takes all the non-performing debt, Spain takes all the fixed deposits and assets.
    I'm no economist but......
Still, what's another 40 billion here or there......
    IMF
    Bored.

A problem I see with this nationalization poo is that the punter in the street, who isn't a financials guru, will be left wondering who owns what, and who is resonsible for what should more things go wrong. Am I right in saying that the B&B has been split into 2 parts: Santander snaffled the "good" part, and HM Gov. bailed-out the browner & smellier end of the stick?

        (I don't use the T word)
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
