    How Sweet

Finished contract with client apart from two ad-hoc days to do.

    Went in Friday and had..

    • Several drinks brought me in the pub – plus lunch

    • Box of choc’s and wine from IT dept done with formal ‘Good Bye’
speech from the Head of IT.

    • Selection of Choc’s from the PR dept

Almost felt as if I was a permie…..

Quite sad to leave ( sounding like Sallyann)

Any one else felt/feel appreciated in their gig?

I was given a nice bottle of Irish Whiskey when I left my last gig. Got a couple of bottles of decent wine at Christmas last year too from the senior stakeholders and the contractors got invited to the Christmas bash along with the permies.

I got loads of people coming up and saying "Please don't go" and "We were relying on you fixing this place for us" and "Why do all the decent contractors leave?"

Bleedin' whingeing, impotent and thick permies. I'm glad to be out of there.

I once had a manager in tears as I was leaving.

Then he paid me and I let him go

Yes indeed. Couldn't give a stuff about any of that leaving tosh, as long as the final timesheet is signed.

I think they tend to wait until I have gone before popping the champagne

Was your contract in Havant? I wondered because I helped design an app called Watchdog there, and one of its components was called Backdog. Or maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree
