    Banning shorting is ...

    .. a bad idea. FT: Short shrift

    Some of us did say this would happen.
    How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

      It would be a good idea for HMG to reintroduce shorting for banks. This will force the SPs down and thus allow HMG to recapitalise the banks and get an even bigger percentage stake per bank.
