    Doom in the "real" economy

Oh yes - that's next when big corporations can't get short term financing.

It's okay - there is almost no real economy left in the UK now, thanks to the City on which UK relied so much.

True. because quite a lot of people are on the dole, on incapacity benefit and/or usless unproductive dreamers in their bedsits.

Don't forget the service industry, surely we are better at services than everyone else in the world, and this will be in demand ('cos they are all thick innit)

Have we got anything we can sell?

Well I did say a wee while ago on this site the crises kicks in when banks stop lending to other banks - and in its wake companies are starved of funds as well.

In other words - 'A Disturbing New Economic Reality'.

            What to do ?

            Pills ?
            The Whip ?
            Marxism ?
            Tony Blair ?

``Credit is the lubricant that oils the engine of the economy'' and if it dries up ``then the engine seizes up,'' said Republican Representative Michael Conaway of Texas, who switched his vote last week to support the financial rescue. The inability of a major corporation to renew its short-term loans would have ``a devastating impact on the economy.''

People on the dole don't buy highly leveraged junk derivatives that exceed available assets.

People on incapacity benefits don't do this either.

Unproductive dreamers don't get involved in this crap too.

So who is guilty for the current UKs predicament?

I think this bold 12 Billion pound package from NL will resolve the economic crises - at a stroke.

Ladies and Gentlemen - welcome to the Central Scrutiniser

The electronic communications of everyone in Britain will be stored and scrutinised as part of a £12billion plan to build the nation’s biggest ever surveillance system.

If installed as proposed, the Interception Modernisation Programme’s database will be directly fed by filters put inside the networks of internet and phone service providers.

No formal decision to proceed with the scheme, thought to include BT and Vodafone, came from the Home Office yesterday, in response to the revelations from the Sunday Times.
